Victory!

Indiana 79 - Kentucky 53

Ahhh, we finally beat these guys, and in the end, we almost did beat Kentucky by 30 (26). Time to celebrate! Cheers everyone!

Davis finally got a win over UK. And while I agree that it is a good win for the Hoosiers, it would be even sweeter if they hadn't let ISU upset them. Even casual observers could see that the Sycamores wanted it more than the Hoosiers. To me, that's bad coaching and that loss will reflect on IU's placement in the Big Dance.

I understand they can't win 'em all and there will be upsets, but taking them as lightly as IU seemed to indicates to me that there is a problem.

Let's see how they fair against Charlotte in a week. If they can't win on the road, we could be in for a disappointing season.

And man do we need a point guard!

Ahhhh, but my mini-IU basketball is in my boss's office (he's a UK grad), proudly on display for an entire year due to IU's win.

Hopefully Davis can get these boys up to go 3-0 for the rest of the pre-Big Ten season.

Cheers!

Compos, nice work on getting the ball into your boss's office. I'm hoping you haven't been working there for 10 years with this same bet, or you'd have been pretty tired of looking at that UK ball on your desk.

I agree that the ISU game was a real disappointment, but I'm not ready to hang that one over Davis's shoulders quite yet. We have to face the fact that mid-major teams are a lot better than they have been historically, as they have been able to increase their scholarship positions to 15 from 13. Plus the bigger schools don't have the overall talent they've had historically with the way the NBA has pillaged the NCAA's talent.

No excuses though. We should have won that game (we were up 10 at the half). But IU isn't that much different than the 10-12 top 25 teams that have dropped bad games already this year.

We have to beat Charlotte on the road. I'm glad that we finally got some guard play from AJ against UK. Hopefully this is a sign that he is healthy and ready to take over at the 2.

Also, once White comes back, we get to move Vaden over to the 3 from the 4. That is a better position for him and he should hit a higher % of shots from a more even match-up.

All things being equal, I still think this team has a good shot at the Big 10 title.

To me, the ISU loss wasn't so much about ISU's talent. They do have a relatively talented team and I believe are undefeated still. Rather, it is about desire. I know people that went to that game who said before and (especially) after the game, IU looked like it couldn't have cared less about being there or the loss. THAT is what gets me.

I realize early season games are more for regular season preparation, finding what works well and what doesn't.

As for the ball, this is the first year for that bet, so it couldn't have come at a better time : )

I too am looking forward to seeing what the White/Killingsworth tandem can do. Ben Allen looks quite good as well.
