Checking In

Just got back from snowboarding at Vail today. The snow was really great and it was sunny all day.

I've never had more fun snowboarding/skiing ever.

However, I took a pretty bad digger just after lunch. We had just finished a Black Diamond and were taking a Blue down to the lift, when I tried to cut and my right leg just wanted, well, not go anywhere. I went airborne and landed straight on my keister. When I got in the shower, I laughed as I saw one really white cheek and one really black and blue cheek.

...um, of course it was part of my normal routine inspection of my butt each day.

Usually, I'm just re-entacting the moonlight scene in Basic Instinct.

More pictures when I get back.

...of snowboarding.

Are you always that half-assed?

(I'm here all week; try the crawfish)

When I was younger I did quite a bit of back country snowboarding. We use to hike for 2 hours with snowshoes up to the top of Near Point, that overlooked the city (Anchorage, AK) below. We would get up above the tree line and spend time catching wicked air. After an hour or two of that, we would rally down the powerline trails...always a good time and aways exhausting.

Glad to see you made it out in one piece and were able to turn the other cheek in the face of adversity. I'm not here all week, and I can't stand crawfish.

CS,

Did you actually live in Alaska? It is high on my list of places to go right now.

I'm hoping to do some back-country snowboarding at Kirkwood (near Lake Tahoe) before the season is over. I think bringing snowshoes is a pretty good idea.

Ian, I only ask on thing--please don't make my ass the symbol of your trip. Unlike my "half-assed" self, you should go full-out.

Unless Uncle Sam continues to seek out your wallet, then you can just point and tell him to "kiss" my black-blue-and-white backside.
