College Football Thread

College Football seasons is almost upon us. Because I'm such a loving guy who is an active promoter of "dialog" among diverse groups, I thought it would be great to get a thread going about predictions of the college football season.

Actually, I want to set up a brief war between rivals here on this site, and would like to encourage anyone else to jump in and flame away. I have my Michigan cousin representing the quietest 100k people on earth, my blog friend the Colossus representing Nothing But Catholics, and if I can adequately bait him, one time commenter and friend, "Stone Holmes" representing the Pre-season #1 all-booster team.

In the comments, please write your predictions, and talk about how much you hate your rivals. Any teasing of the putrid play of the Indiana Hoosiers, whom I represent, is strongly encouraged.

---

Actually, specifically, I want your predictions on these games (Notre Dame/Michigan, Ohio State/Texas, Ohio State/Michigan, Notre Dame/Navy). Don't even waste your breath with Indiana predictions as you'll only be arguing about the spread.

Was that the Colossus I saw trudging slowly downfield in pursuit of my fleet receivers during the Fiesta Bowl? Is that ND Defense ready to give up less than 617 yards of offense per game this year?

I think there was a display of arrogance somewhere near the goal line.

Heh. I read one columnist saying "Notre Dame has four returning starters in its secondary" and I said "Yeah . . . and that's a good thing?"

I realized that Texas was going to beat USC after watching the Fiesta Bowl. I figured if Texas beat Ohio State, then they must be for real.

ND-Michigan? I'd have to tke ND in that one, minus how ever many points ND is giving up. Lloyd Carr will be down about 28 points before he finally abandons trying to establish the run, late in the third quarter. I'm thinking it will be something like 35-21 ND by the end.

I honestly haven't looked at OSU yet, so I don't know what they've lost from last year. I have to think they're going to be better than Michigan, though. If Ohio State and ND both beat Michigan, I'm thinking Lloyd Carr will finally meet his fate.

ND-Navy -- seems like that's always a nailbiter, but without Roger Staubach, Navy just hasn't been able to get it done. Oh, they've come close a few times. But I'm thinking that in the Charlie era, it isn't going to happen.

Ohio State lost their entire defense as Woody can lement. AJ Hawk was last scene dating a crackhead that I supposed to be Brady Quinn's sister.

Michigan has underacheived so mightily the last few years, it is hard to predict what they'll do. They always have the talent, but only Lloyd Carr can find a way to only pass for 150 yards with three NFL calibur wide-receivers. Even Joe Paterno learned how to win by throwing the ball down field.

Maybe my Michigan cousin can chime in and tell us some insider stuff on the Maize and Blue?

OSU's offense is completely sick. If I were Tressel, I would call Teddy Ginn on the post pattern 17-times a game, because there is no one in D-I that can catch that guy on either side of the ball.

I think OSU squeaks one out down in Austin. Vince young was pretty special, and Texas without him is going to make Mack Brown be Mack Brown again.

I'm taking OSU over UM and ND over Mich.

BTW, I'm also taking Western Michigan over my Hoosiers. WE SUCK!

Just for kicks, let's looks at Ohio State's all-time record against Indiana.

Ready?

64-8-4

And, apparently, you won the first one. Nice work, Nugget.

Colossus, I understand your concern about our defense, and I appreciate it. In order to allay your concern, I'll have you know that our new middle linebacker is the son of this guy:

Stone:

Apparently you forgot to mention the ratio of Ohio State versus Indiana football players in jail. Similar to on-field performance.

Actually, I wouldn't take that criticsm to heart. I like my football teams mean, and I'd take a winning football team full of future inmates versus a bunch of choir boys who get their &^#&ing ass kicked EVERY SATURDAY!

So, we tied you four times, huh? Good thing there wasn't OT, or you'd have 68 wins.

This sucks too...our all time record versus Michigan:
